With
the Malaysia Contingent split into two almost equal size, one based in
Palembang (appendix 2) and the other in Jakarta (appendix 1), the management of
the Contingent was also split into two divisions. Myself was the Chef de Mission
based in Jakarta, while Y Bhg Dato’ Syed Mustaffa Syed Ali was the Deputy Chef de Mission, based in
Palembang. Both me and the Deputy Chef
de Mission were supported by our respective Secretariat comprising officers
from OCM, MSN, ISN and NSAs. Overall, both divisions were well managed, as the
members of the Secretariat are very experienced, who carried out their duties
and responsibilities with a high standard.
The Team Managers of all the 38 sports and disciplines also performed
their duties well, sometimes under quite challenging situations. There were no case of indiscipline or any
mischievous or in appropriate behavior.
