Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is following closely the progress made by YAB Dato' Seri Najib in securing nominations for the respective posts that they are vying for in the UMNO Elections this coming March (2009),Whilst as of the 23rd of October, 2008 YAB Dato' Seri Najib had secured 67 nominations, YB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had secured 45 nominations.
Both had qualified to contest the positions that they have been nominated.
The other two contenders for the Deputy President that still needs nominations to qualify are YAB Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and YB Tan Sri Muhammad bin Muhamad Taib.
The four Vice Presidents that have qualified as of the 23rd October, 2008 for the three positions are Dato Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Dato Dr Zahid Hamidi, YB Dato Shafie Apdal and Dato Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
